DEPARTMENT RECEIVES GRANT FOR VIDEO EQUIPMENT
On January 3rd, 2012 the police department received a (money) grant from the John K & Luise V Hanson Foundation.
The John K & Lusie V Hanson Foundation was established by the Hanson family of Forest City in 1971 as a way for the
Hanson family to give back to their community and to enhance the quality of life in North Central Iowa through
activities involving youth, parks, recreation and other programs affecting the greater community.
The police department, on behalf of the community at large, thanks the John K & Luise V Hanson Foundation for this generous gift.
Money received from the Foundation will be used by the police department to purchase vehicle video systems. Iowa courts, including the Iowa Supreme Court, through various court rulings, are encouraging the use of video by police departments. Police vehicle video systems increase the probability of conviction of criminal offenses, while protecting both officers and the public. This gift from the John K & Luise V Hanson Foundation will assist the police department in reaching standards of action recommended by the Iowa Supreme Court, while saving taxpayers the cost.
