When someone calls into the police department and requests some type of response from the Department, an attempt is made to define the Call For Service request with a "call type". While the police department has the authority to place these calls into certain call types, the Forest City Police Department does not have exclusive authority to establish what a call type is defined as.
The police department works with other police agencies within Winnebago County, along with the Winnebago County Communications Board and their employees, to establish protocols for police reporting. Police statistical reporting is limited to the ability of the police software . Call types can not be deleted or easily changed without negatively impacting the database.
